Kronos is built out of an old 1U Snap server case. The original Snap server had a motherboard failure, so I took it apart. Turns out that the motherboard used a standard ATX power supply, which meant I could plug in any old motherboard. This was to be my main machine, so it would work 24/7. As such I wanted something that would use as little power as possible. So I went and got an EPIA 800 Mini-ITX motherboard to use.

It has a 800MHz VIA CPU, which was enough for the tasks I needed it to do. I added 512MB of RAM and a 40GB IDE Drive. It runs Debian Linux.

The hardest part was interfacing with the front panel. I wanted to keep the front panel as stock as possible, with the exception of a LCD display added.
